Debugging

Multidoc depends on you, the user, entering data correctly in the “Multidoc” custom field. This is quite simple to do, but mistakes will happen. If you have missing or malformed links (or worse) and don’t want to go through every page trying to find the error, Multidoc has a debugging feature that can make this easier.

If Multidoc detects an error it will add a message to the top of your page, protected by HTML comment delimiters. (Note that this will prevent the page’s HTML from validating.) When Multidoc finds an error in any collection, all collections will be affected.

On your development site you can have error messages displayed without comment delimiters, so that the messages appear at the top of the page without your having to open a page source view. If you didn’t do so during installation, go to Admin->Plugins and click the “Options” link for soo_multidoc. Add your development domain and click “Save”.

While Multidoc won’t catch or understand every error you throw at it, it should handle the most common errors correctly.
